About Dynamics 365 Solution Compare

Dynamics 365 Solution Compare shows the differences between two exported solutions: tables, columns, forms, views, processes, web resources and everything else in the file. Select any change to see exactly which lines differ.

Use it to answer "what is different between UAT and production?" before a release, or to review what a new version changes. Solutions can contain sensitive configuration, so the files are unpacked in your browser and never uploaded. This is an independent tool, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.

  1. 01Export the same solution from each environment, or two versions of it.

  • Warns when comparing a managed solution with an unmanaged one
  • Copy the change list for release notes

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare two Dynamics 365 solutions?
Export the solution from each environment, then choose both .zip files here. It is best to compare two unmanaged exports, or two managed exports.
Are my solution files uploaded?
No. The .zip files are opened by your browser on your own device, and nothing is sent to a server.
Why does everything show as changed?
This usually means that one solution is managed and the other is unmanaged, because managed exports store extra settings. The tool warns you when this happens. Export both the same way for a cleaner result.
Does this compare live environments?
No. It only compares exported solution files, so it never connects to your environment and needs no sign-in. It also only sees what each solution contains, not everything in the environment.
