About String Randomizer

String Randomizer does two jobs. It generates random strings with the length and characters you choose, for uses such as test data, identifiers and tokens, and it shuffles existing text by character, word or line.

Randomness comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator, and every character is equally likely to be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I generate a random string?
Open the Generate tab, set the length and how many strings you want, choose the characters to include, and select Generate.
Are the strings truly random?
They use the Web Crypto API built into your browser, which is designed for security-sensitive randomness, and sampling is unbiased so each character is equally likely.
Can I use this to create passwords?
The randomness is suitable for it, and nothing leaves your browser. For security, use a long length with a broad character set, and keep the result in a password manager.
Are generated strings stored?
No. It runs entirely in your browser, and nothing you enter or open is uploaded, stored or sent to a server.
